Edit: Summer Storms, Evangelion, Art?

The sun shone in the middle of a thunderstorm today. It was beautiful. I happened to open the blinds and look outside at just the right moment. The light reflecting off the raindrops made it look like broken glass was falling from the sky.

...

I didn't think I would be watching an entire anime series ever again. I was a huge anime fanatic about five or six years ago, and then my interest in it kind of gradually faded. I still enjoy films by Miyazaki, and I just recently saw and was extremely impressed by Tekkonkinkreet (sp?), but I'm not really into the TV shows anymore. However, the other day I came across the Wikipedia page for Neon Genesis Evangelion. The religious symbolism and the characters' psychological struggles really caught my attention, and so since then I've been watching the series on the internet. I'm not a big fan of the giant robot fights, (There are too many animes centered around giant robot fights. It's become a stereotype of Japanese animation.) but, hey, it's important to the plot, and obvious care was put into developing other aspects of the series. I really appreciate how well Ikari Shinji was characterized. Though many seem to see him as immature and a "crybaby", I find him strongly sympathetic. It's not cool how often people mistake symptoms of depression and anxiety disorders for immaturity.

EDIT: I finished watching all 26 Evangelion episodes. (Still need to watch the movie.) My mind is officially blown... :wow: I want this series on DVD. I have to say, the last six or seven episodes were well worth wading through the somewhat formulaic Eva fights in the beginning, and the final two episodes were just spectacular. 25 and 26 really are beautiful examples of animation as an expressive medium.

Moreover, this face [link] will haunt me forever... :fear:

...

I'm hoping I'll have some time to make some of my own artwork over the next few months. While at school, assigned projects and homework essentially eliminate all my free time, but now that I have a break from that, I'm looking for a job. Fun times....
